I was lucky enough to drive a 2020 Aston Martin Vantage months back and, despite what some other test pilots have said, I absolutely adored it. It was fast, comfortable, handled like a dream, and was gorgeous in person, inside and out. This long behind-the-scenes clip from inside Aston’s Vantage factory provides very cool perspective on how these cars are made.
Welt Documentary is a channel on YouTube with tons of this kind of stuff. It’s a part of the Welt German media brand, and offer all kinds of behind-the-scenes looks, especially one about how high-end cars are made. My favorite I’ve come across by far is their video on how the current-gen Aston Martin Vantage is made.
You can see why learning how the Aston I drove started from a bare aluminum shell, to a complete, badass GT car, strikes my fancy. But it shouldn’t be just mine – any car enthusiast ought to dig it. The legendary UK brand still largely hand-assembles their cars which is quite commendable in this day and age. In fact, the modern tech they use on the assembly line ensures that the human component will be there for the foreseeable future. That’s really cool.
The documentary also details how the Aston Martin Vantage is engineered for motorsports. So, yeah, you could say this doc is one of my favorites on YouTube. Though I will admit that the narration gets really cheesy at times. Scope it out!
