The red R is there because this truck was prepped by the famous Ringbrothers resto and upgrade shop.

I know the person who sent me the pictures of this ’70 K5 Blazer would have expected me to get fired up about the 6.2-liter LS3 V8 under the hood. But honestly, the most exciting thing I see is a removable-roof Blazer that somebody’s finally using to its open-air potential.

Much like my old IH Scout, these Blazers (and some Broncos of the same era) had partially removable roofs that made the vehicles into a kind of half-pickup half-SUV thing that looks cool and unique. But, since those roofs are always so unwieldy, people often shy away from trying to lift them. Anyway, it seems pretty clear that the Ringbrothers shop was not shy about anything when it came to rebuilding this K5.

Besides the previously mentioned LS3, this Growler Green Chev has: “Ringbrothers carbon fiber hood with billet inserts; Vintage Air A/C system; LED headlights and taillights; custom Flowmaster exhaust system; one-off HRE 18-inch wheels with 33-inch General Grabber tires; Baer 6-piston front and rear brakes; Warn front locking hubs; custom leather interior including seating, dash, door cards, rear cards and console; modern Dakota Digital gauges in Ringbrothers bezel; Ringbrothers steering wheel; QA1 shocks and sway bars; custom bimini hartop included” according to the Omaze charity raffle listing.

If you follow that link, apparently you could potentially win the thing! I’m content to admire it in these photos, but it is pretty sweet-looking.
