Lamborghini dropped a nice batch of images to tout what it promises is the last(!) Aventador variant before the V12 supercar is sunsetted. I was about to grab a pic and share it as a Car Autance Feature Photo post, but the whole album is way too much fun to miss. It’s completely over-edited and over the top, much like the Aventador itself or a video game cutscene. But even if you’re not about to spend a million bucks at the Lamborghini store, these pictures have a lot of classic supercar energy I think you’ll appreciate.
For those of you who want to dig into the details, Lamborghini issued a pretty comprehensive press release about this car which you can read here. Meanwhile I’ll share the highlights:
The Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae logline is: “a celebration of the iconic V12 super sports car and combustion engine in a final production model, concentrating the purest features of all Aventador editions into a perfect finale.” That sounds pretty ominous to fans of burning gasoline, but, I guess we’ll see what the future holds.
The car has full-time all-wheel drive and its 6.5-liter V12 is rated to 780 cheval vapeur, which is basically a French way to express metric horsepower. That figure translates to 769 horsepower, which most of us are more familiar with but I guess didn’t have as nice a ring to it. Torque is 531 ft-lbs, translated from 720 nm. With all that energy you’re looking at a claimed 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds, 0 to 200 kph (124 mph) in 8.7 seconds, and a top speed of 355 kph (a fraction below 221 mph) for the non-convertible. Lamborghini says this version of the Aventador weighs 3,417 pounds before adding a driver and fluids.
Lamborghini’s planning to build 350 coupés and 250 roadsters, with a list price not yet pubished but I bet you’ll be able to option one of these into seven figures. The Aventador SVJ I test-drove a year ago had a sticker of over $750,000 and this version is, after all, the “ultimae.”
Anyway, my reaction to supercar specs is usually a combination of “neat” and “who cares,” so if you’re on the same page, check out this big beautiful album I was talking up in my headline and I think you’ll see what I meant by “Need for Speed vibes.” The grey car is finished in a colorway called “matt Grigio Acheso and Grigio Teca” and the blue one is “Blu Tawaret and Blu Nethuns with the roof panels in high gloss black carbon fiber.” If you’re reading this on your phone and pay for data on a per-kilobyte basis you might want to make sure you’re on WiFi before you scroll any further. 56K stay away (ha, remember that?)!
