All new cars, trucks, and SUVs come with a new vehicle limited warranty that protects against defects in materials or workmanship. Most automakers provide similar types of warranty coverage; however, the length of coverage can vary greatly depending on the manufacturer.
Nissan Motor Co. touts that its warranty for the Titan and Titan XD full-size trucks is “America’s best truck warranty.” But how does it really stack up against its competitors?

What IS Included with the Nissan Titan Warranty
The Titan full-size pickup truck comes with a bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and powertrain warranty that lasts five years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Nissan’s warranty covers its range of Titan vehicles, including the Endurance V-8 gas models and Cummins V-8 turbo-diesel Titan XD models.
The coverage is exclusionary, which means it covers everything except what the manufacturer lists as not included.
Bumper To Bumper
The bumper-to-bumper warranty is an automaker’s primary form of coverage, and the Nissan Titan warranty is tough to beat—largely due to its duration. Should an issue come up anywhere on the vehicle, from front to back, the bumper-to-bumper warranty will cover it. This includes everything from the body panels to the electrical system.
Powertrain
The powertrain and bumper-to-bumper warranties match when it comes to their length of coverage, but the powertrain warranty focuses specifically on the components that keep the truck running.
The powertrain warranty includes components related to the engine, transmission, transaxle, drivetrain, and restraint system. The cylinder heads and block, rocker covers, oil pan, intake and exhaust manifolds, torque converter, transfer case, seals and gaskets, driveshafts, and universal joints are just some of the parts that are covered.
Roadside Assistance
Should a new Titan break down, owners have access to 24-hour roadside assistance, which includes services such as towing to the nearest Nissan dealer, flat tire changes, battery jump starts, fuel delivery, and lock-out assistance.
If a Titan breaks down more than 100 miles from home, Nissan provides trip-interruption benefits, which include meals, lodging, and substitute transportation costs while warrantable repairs are being completed.
The roadside assistance program also includes AutoValet, a concierge service that will assist with hotel reservations, airline information, message relay, and directory assistance for locating gas stations, ATMs, and banks.
Other
If a Titan’s panels develop rust-through corrosion, Nissan will provide and install replacement sheet metal panels for five years, or an unlimited number of miles, through its corrosion coverage. Nissan also provides a lifetime limited warranty on original equipment mufflers, genuine Nissan vehicle suspension system shock absorbers, and strut assemblies.
The federal emission defects warranty lasts three years or 36,000 miles. Coverage for the Titan XD models warranty is five years or 50,000 miles. To meet the state’s stringent anti-smog standards, the California emission control warranty lasts three years or 50,000 miles.
BFGoodrich passenger and light truck tires are covered for the life of the original usable tread or six years from the date of purchase. Similar coverage exists for Bridgestone, Firestone, Goodyear, Dunlop, Continental, General, Hankook, Kumho, Michelin, Toyo, Falken and Yokohama tires, although the terms vary.
The seat belt limited warranty covers any seat belt or related component for 10 years. All genuine Nissan replacement parts, Genuine NISMO S-tune parts, and Genuine Nissan Accessories are covered for one year or 12,000 miles.
Nissan will replace a Titan’s battery if it becomes unserviceable within two years. After two years, the automaker will replace the battery at a reduced price.
What’s NOT Included with the Nissan Titan Warranty
While the Nissan Titan warranty is nearly comprehensive, it doesn’t cover everything, which is not uncommon in the industry. There are certain situations in which you will be required to pay for expenses out of pocket.
Exclusions
The basic warranty does not cover damage caused by vehicle misuse, theft, vandalism, fire, flooding, accident, or collision. It doesn’t cover repairs performed by a non-authorized Nissan dealer or the installation of non-Nissan components.
Normal maintenance and normal wear and tear (dents, chips, or scratches) are excluded from the warranty, as are vehicles that have been altered, modified, or improperly repaired.
The warranty does not cover damage or corrosion caused by environmental factors such as flooding, hailstorms, or lightning. Repairs on improperly maintained trucks are also excluded.
Drop-in bed liners are covered by a separate warranty carried out by the Penda Corporation.
The Good Things about the Nissan Titan Warranty
The best thing about the Nissan Titan and Titan XD factory warranty is the length of coverage. The automaker provides significantly longer bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage than any other pickup truck manufacturer in the industry. Nissan provides five years or 100,000 miles of coverage, while its competitors only offer three-year or 36,000-mile programs.
The Titan warranty is also very comprehensive in the components it covers. Should a factory-related defect crop up during the lifespan of the warranty, owners will be spared from potentially expensive repair bills.
Another benefit is the inclusion of roadside assistance, trip-interruption benefits, and concierge services. These perks provide some peace of mind if you travel frequently and might experience an unexpected breakdown.
Also, the warranty is transferable to another owner should you decide to sell your Titan, which can increase the truck’s resale value.
The Bad Things about the Nissan Titan Warranty
While the Nissan Titan warranty is nearly comprehensive, it’s also limited because it only covers issues related to factory defects. It doesn’t cover regular maintenance services, normal wear, and tear, or damage resulting from collisions, environmental factors, misuse, modification, or alteration.
Also, since the term limits of both the bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranties match, you don’t get any additional coverage once the comprehensive warranty expires. Typically, automakers provide a longer powertrain warranty. Instead, Nissan’s powertrain warranty expires at the same time as the bumper-to-bumper warranty.
This puts Nissan on par with many of its competitors, such as Ford and Chevy, who provide powertrain coverage for five years or 60,000 miles. The upside is that Nissan’s powertrain coverage is five years or 100,000 miles, making it better.
Takeaway Value
Nissan’s new vehicle limited warranty is notable largely due to the length of its bumper-to-bumper coverage. However, factory defects tend to surface within the first couple of years of a vehicle’s in-service date. Repairs related to things such as routine maintenance and general wear and tear are not part of the package, and you either have to pay the extra cost or look into an extended warranty for coverage.
