A legendary piece of machinery was on display at the new Acura Integra prototype launch event, and it only had two doors, not four.

There’s a lot of history behind every Acura Integra Type R that Realtime Racing campaigned in North American touring car racing. The team captured the brand’s first championship in World Challenge in 1998, and then again in 1999, 2000 and 2002. The driver lineup was stacked as well, with touring car racing legends such as Pierre Kleinubing and Peter Cunningham, the team’s founder who’s raced in many different forms of motorsport under the Honda and Acura badges.

When I think of touring car racing in the late ’90s and early ’00s, two things come to mind: the word “challenge” (seriously, its been called the Pirelli World Challenge, Speed World Challenge, etc.), and the Integra Type R. Especially the latter done up and raced by Realtime, it’s such an iconic livery and true testament to how incredible racing was back then.
