This article is for those who want to make chip tuning their main job but don’t know where to start or how to do it.

So, in our opinion, you need to start with experience working with cars. No exceptions! And this experience should be closely related to engine management system diagnostics. Also, experience in auto electrics and engine repair is a good bonus.

There are already enough “chip tuners.” Therefore, if you do not have the skills to work with cars, if you do not know what a lambda sensor or crankshaft position sensor is, then it is better not to continue. In this case, first learn the craft of diagnostics. By “diagnostics,” we mean troubleshooting, not scanning for errors with a Chinese scanner.

Let’s move on. You will definitely need professional equipment that is easy to work with. Yes, you will have to invest in it. But without proper equipment, you won’t be able to work. If you are under the illusion that you can start out with Chinese programmers and cheap scanners, think again. As soon as the Chinese Kess fails to work with a car and the Chinese Delphi Autocom can’t even connect to it, you will realize how difficult it is to work with “junk.” It’s better not to even sign up for something like this than to search forums for instructions on how to lift control units.

When you write a car for chip tuning, you don’t know in advance what specific software (which factory version) will be written to the engine ECU of that car. When you buy firmware collectively or order it from your calibrator each time, you can get stuck waiting for the calibrator to assemble and send you a “tune” based on the necessary software. This is not profitable in terms of time management. In this regard, it is much more convenient to use ready-made catalogs (such as ours). You simply find the firmware you need in the catalog, pay for it, and immediately receive the firmware file. At the same time, if you buy firmware from us, you can be sure of the quality of the product. The next point is the service where you will call customers. Some technicians work without a fixed address. They simply travel with their equipment to the customer’s car. It also looks unprofessional and questionable to most solvent customers. Work in your own service center (even if it is small), or rent a parking space in someone else’s service center. Moreover, many orders for reflashing come through the removal of toxicity reduction systems (which can only be done in a service center). If you do not provide services for removing catalytic converters and EGR, you will lose some of your orders. According to the most average estimates, this is about 30% of orders.

If you have experience in diagnostics, if you have good equipment and quick access to firmware, and if you have a fixed location where you can call customers, then you are ready to work. The last step is to create a flow of customers. For this, you need good advertising.

You will have to work hard (especially at first) and make a serious financial investment. The good news is that virtually no one (at least for now) is using advertising tools effectively in chip tuning.
