The first product on our list comes from Berryman, and it is a tire sealant with a very wide range of applications. It is also one of the most popular products out there, so why are so many people putting their faith in the Seal-R from Berryman? First, there are a wide range of very useful features built into this product.

As we mentioned, it has a wide-ranging applications. Trailer wheels, tractors, ride-on lawn mowers and bikes of all sizes are just some of the vehicle types that you can pre-fill the tires with this product. Once in place it seals instantly, protecting tires from punctures over and over again.

This version of the product comes in a 1-gallon jug, making it perfect if you have multiple tires you want to fill and protect. It is also available in smaller bottles that are perfect for storing in the trunk for emergencies. If you do put it in your car as a temporary fix, it’s good to know it is safe to use on materials like steel, chrome and alloys (so no wheel damage), and it is easily washed away by plain water when you remove the tire back in your garage or on the driveway.

When it comes to slime, there is really only one company that knows more about it than the Ghostbusters, and that’s Slime. It only seems fitting that on our list of the best tire sealants on the market we include a premier example. Slime tire sealant has a number of useful built-in features, and it is can be used across a number of applications – exactly what you would expect from such a well-regarded manufacturer.

For one thing, this product can be used in a preventative role – though this should be noted is only for vehicles with a speed under 65 mph. That is a higher everyday use speed than you see with many other brands though, so unless you have a turbocharged lawnmower, you can fill the tires of just about any vehicle (other than a car or truck) and protect it from punctures for up to two years.

When used in cars, it is a temporary, emergency repair, but it certainly has the strength and durability to get you from the flat tire site back home for a tire change. It is very easy to use, non-toxic and non-flammable and comes in a lovely big 16-ounce bottle.

The next product is a complete kit, which is designed exclusively for use in ATVs. So don’t bother throwing this into the trunk of your sedan for highway tire blowouts. Instead, this is a different formula to that which is found in many other tire sealants out there.

What you get is a compound that is based on liquid rubber and also contains recycled tire particles – because what’s better to put into a tire than bits of old tires? Oh yeah, Kevlar. Yep, there are Kevlar particles mixed up in there too. Like most tire sealants on this list, this one can be deployed after a tire has suffered a puncture. In fact anything up to 3/8th of an inch can be tackled, so it’s perfect for nail or thorn or similar tire wounds.

It’s more designed as a protective product however, which is why it comes with four separate bags of sealant (and if you put it into your tricycle, you even get a bonus bag!) This is a great, ATV-specific product if you want to protect (for up to two years) the tires on any vehicle that drives off road – from Tractors, ATV’s, golf carts and trailers down to lawn mowers and wheelbarrows.

When we saw the name of this product, we won’t lie, we were a little confused. What does it do, we wondered. Fix-A-Flat? It’s so unclear, we were literally scratching our head as we tried… ok, that’s enough of that. This may well be about the most on the nose product name we’ve ever seen. But do you know what, we will let it go because this is a very well designed emergency tire sealant.

You’ll note that word “Emergency” by the way. Unlike the previous products we’ve looked at, this product is not designed to be sprayed into a tire as a preventative measure. Instead you carry this 20-ounce can (yep, it’s a big boy) in the trunk and pull it out only in emergencies.

The simplicity of the design is the stand out. If you have a puncture (up to ¼ inch sized) simple attach this product to the tire nozzle, hold the trigger down until no more product flows in. Then drive away on a tire that is certainly not permanently repaired, but has the strength to get you back home or to a nearby garage. This is a really well designed and made product that should be in the emergency stand by kit of any well-equipped driver.

Yes, here are CarAutance we generally only review car products. That should be obvious really as the clue is in the title. So when we were putting this list together for the best tire sealants we thought to ourselves why not throw a bone to the bike riders too, and show them some of the best tire sealants for bikes at the same time. Once we decided that we knew that if we were showing you the best for bikes that simply has to include Stans No Tubes Sealant.

Stans is a market leader here, and this product is one of the big reasons for this. It comes as very viscous goo that you dilute (1 quart is enough for 8 tires) and pump into your mountain bike tires. That’s it! It stays liquid and provides long lasting protection against punctures on your mountain bike tires. We should stress, this is not suitable for cars or even larger vehicles like golf carts or ATVs. But for mountain bikes it’s one of the best out there.

Our next product comes from Ride-On and, if you couldn’t guess from the product name, is designed specifically for motorcycles. If you are strictly a “two wheels good, fours wheels better” kind of person then feel free to skip to the next product. If though you are a biker and want nothing but the best products for your beloved hog, then read on.

This product works by after being squirted into the tire, it coats the inside of the tire itself. This has a range of useful benefits for your motorcycle tires. The first, and biggest, advantage has to be the fact that it will help to prevent against punctures. The inner lining the product forms is very gooey, and when an object enters the tire, it seals around it and, very quickly, plugs the hole to prevent a puncture.

It also has some other benefits. Once it has lined the tire, it functions as a tire balancer, improving the performance of the bike. It also has built in anti corrosion protection that can protect the metal inners of your wheels. With price tag a shade under 20 bucks for about 8 ounces of product, this tire sealant does have a pretty premium price tag. On the other hand it easily boasts the features necessary to justify that premium price.

Slime are back for the second time on the list, and this time they are bringing a slime tire sealant that is designed for use with tubed tires. Now, you generally don’t see many tire sealants that are designed for use in tubes the simple reason that this is that most tires these days – especially those found on heavier vehicles like motorbikes, cars and trucks – are tubeless.

Tube tires still exist of course, and if you own any you can thank your lucky starts that Slime have got you covered. You get everything you expect from Slime (as we described their product in their previous entry), except here in a special formulation designed especially for you.

That means that you can pre-load your tubed tires with lovely slime for up to 2 years of continuous puncture protection. Or you can carry it with you on long rides or store in the shed, garage or trunk and pull it for emergency repairs. As with any Slime product, repairs are fast and incredibly easy, whilst the product is non-toxic, non-corrosive and easily cleaned up with plain water. Lovely stuff.

What we have here is a phenomenally premium product that has a range of top-end features. It also has a premium price tag, coming in at over 60 bucks for a 1-gallon jug of product. That makes it the most expensive tire sealant to make the list, so just what are you getting for your money here?

The answer to that is an awful lot. First off, this is designed for ATV and dirt bike use (though you could also add it to other off road vehicles like golf carts and lawn mowers). It must not be used in high-speed applications, so keep it out of cars completely, and don’t use it if you race your dirt bike.

So what does it do? Well, it is a preventative product. That means you pour it into the tires before anything has damaged them. It comes with a kit to aid in this, and it’s pretty straightforward anyway. Once in place, it provides protection for the life of the tire. Yes, the entire lifespan of the tire. It also protects against punctures in the tread and the sidewall. Both of those features – the extra long lifespan and the sidewall protection – are not something you see in every product of this type, and they really do go a long way to justifying that price tag. Look at it as a long-term investment to protect your tires for life, and that price, if anything, even starts to look a little cheap.

Ah, good old Fix-A-Flat, yes we had a giggle at their on the nose product names earlier, and here they are with another one that does exactly what it says on the box. This is a 1-step tire repair kit, just as it states above. What does that mean in reality though?

Well, let’s role-play. You’re out driving one night then, bang! A puncture! Oh no! You pull over, see a nail has shredded a hole in your tire. You don’t panic though. Because you have this bad boy in the trunk. You pull it out and connect the hose end to the valve on the tire. You connect the electrical plug end into your 12V adaptor (AKA the cigarette lighter hole). You press one button and, within seven minutes, the tire is inflated again and ready to go.

That is the main feature of this product, the fact that it is just so simple to use. It costs about 25 bucks, buy it once and pop it in the trunk. You can then forget you even own it – until that time when you really need it, and you will be very thankful to pop the trunk and find this little lifesaver looking back up at you.

It only seems right that we finish with another product from Slime. If they are not the market leaders in tire sealant (and they probably are) they are certainly in the front of the pack. This product is quite similar to the one we just looked at, though it is more of a tool kit for puncture repair than an emergency all in one box.

So you get a sturdy travel case here which contains a pretty powerful, piston engine air compressor. This hooks up through the 12V adaptor in the car to deliver excellent air pumping ability – it can get a standard car tire from 0 to 33psi in about 3 minutes or so, not bad going for an electrical pump. The kits also contains a 24-ounce can of Slime tire sealant, and feel free to read back over the previous two Slime reviews to see how great this stuff is.

Those are only a few of the pieces of kit that make up the 48-piece selection this kit comes with. You also get a T-Handle reamer, various tire plugs, various valve caps and adaptors and also an alligator clip attachment so you can hook the pump up to the car battery if you don’t have a 12v adaptor socket in the car.

It’s not cheap, but there is an awful lot of useful gear in this kit, along with a top quality pump and, the cherry on top, a can of Slime, probably the best tire sealant out there.
