The day I took this picture was by far one of the best Mondays ever. Nothing beats an entire day carved out for driving a Veloster N on some twisty canyon roads.

After picking this car up for a nice, week-long, hijinks-filled time with a brand-new 2020 Hyundai Veloster N, the first order of business was to take it to Malibu and carve some corners.
The trip up there from where I live was a cinch with adaptive dampers ironing out the imperfections in the pavement, SiriusXM providing the tunes, and a lighter-than-normal amount of traffic on Southern California’s infamously terrible freeway system.
When I arrived at my destination, the turn-off from Pacific Coast Highway onto Las Flores Canyon Road, I had all the time in the world to enjoy this gorgeous part of the country’s twisty tarmac in the absolute-best conditions. Las Flores, Tuna Canyon, Piuma, Latigo — I drove a good number of fun roads, and the Veloster N acted like it wanted to keep on playing all friggin’ day long. So I did. By the time I decided to call it and head back down south, I had burned nearly an entire tank of fuel, and my neck was starting to hurt from hours of repeated lateral Gs.
A fun torque band, excellent factory exhaust note, brilliant handling, strong brakes, great sound system, a comfortable, tall-guy friendly interior; the sky really is the limit when it comes to how much fun one can have behind the wheel of one of these.
