I Guess This Is What A $115,000 International Scout Looks Like! | Autance

This heavily restomod’d Scout 800 is barely a Scout… objectively, it’s something much better.

“Classic trucks are skyrocketing in value” has been a refrain among car collectors for [checks old blogs] a decade almost, but seeing IH Scouts sell for six figures is still blowing my mind.

  • Car: 1967 International Scout 800 rebuilt by Bulletproof Restorations
  • Location: Los Angeles, CA (Dockweiler Beach)
  • Photog: Jonathan Harper for Collecting Cars (IGs are @jbh1126 and @collectingcars respectively)
  • Camera: Sony A7R3; Sony 24-70 2.8 GM

I’m friends with both the guy behind the company that did this Scout’s restomod and the guy who took the photo, so I’m not going to try and claim objectivity — but I do think it’s a pretty sweet shot. You’ll find a whole lot more images (and details) at the auction listing if you’re interested, but the sale ended last month so you’ll have to wait for the next one if you’re keen.

The short rundown: This is a Scout 800 (facelifted first gen) that’s barely a Scout any more thanks to a long list of upgrades. A 5.3-liter LS V8, Dana 44 axles, 4L65E and NP241C transfer cases, and primo luxe-style interior materials.

The hammer price was an eye-watering $115,000 after 25 bids. As I’ve said in other forums — I’m glad people are valuing Scouts in general and my friend’s work in particular, but I personally like my trucks a little rougher around the edges. Not that I’m anywhere near six-figure car territory anyway!
