Chevy offered “stepside” pickup truck beds, with the cargo gunwales are pulled in tight to give the appearance of having huge fender flares, from 1955 through 2003 but this design often associated with the 1970s when it was popular.

I found this photo in GM’s archive and really liked it. I wasn’t alive in the ’70s but I feel like I get a real sense of a scene here. This looks like a pretty fun hangout in Anytown, USA. And what a rig, man. Orange with rally-style spoke wheels and white stripes? I think I see a plaid bench seat, too. This 1974 C/10 Stepside looks like a muscle car with a cargo bed.

The picture has a lot more detail when it doesn’t have to be squeezed into our 16:9 main image ratio:
