Pro-level drifters are some of the nuttiest individuals on earth. On their own, they build 1,000 HP machines designed to destroy tires in a fashion that amounts to doing a sideways wheelie. What’s even better about drifters and drifting is that the drivers are very tight with the best media creators in the biz, so they have a deep pool of mad scientists to use for insane creations. The Altimaniac is certainly one of the craziest I’ve seen in over two decades of drifting. Even sitting still, it exudes massive V8 Supercar vibes.

Picture Details:

  • Car(s): Nissan Altimaniac driven by Chris Forsberg
  • Location: Willow Springs Horse Thief Mile, Rosamond, CA
  • Photog: Chris Rosales (IG + Twitter: @chrishasacamera)
  • Camera: Canon 5D Mark III w/ 70-200mm f/2.8L

Like in the action shot of the Altimanic, this static shot shows some proportion and detail of the car itself. From here it’s obvious that the stock door frames are used, but the rockers have been cut for maximum lowness. The entire car has been sectioned and tube frame’d to sink the body over the custom suspension.

The engine is a heavily built VR38 from a GT-R; the drivetrain can allegedly withstand 2,000 horsepower.

Massive, Japanese Super GT style flares complete a look that is somehow subtly factory, but suggests massive modification. This is no normal shlammed Altima, this is a pure bred machine made to destroy tires. Enjoy!

As big as we could get it:
