When it comes to luxury brands, the name of Mercedes is synonymous with luxury, quality, engineering and great design. The company supports its vehicles in the form of a comprehensive warranty. Its most popular vehicles include Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, Mercedes SL, Mercedes AMG, and Mercedes 4MATIC.

If you are planning to buy a new Mercedes, rest assured that your vehicle will be covered by the new vehicle limited warranty. Mercedes has different types of coverages such as factory warranty, certified pre-owned warranty, and Mercedes-Benz extended limited warranty.

The factory warranty will protect you from material defects that may cause problems with your vehicle. This warranty also includes a service appointment where your vehicle will be diagnosed by expert Mercedes authorized technicians. These technicians will only use Mercedes’s original parts for replacement.

What IS Included with the Mercedes Warranty

Mercedes provides a comprehensive warranty for its car owners by covering their vehicle for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty will cover many parts such as the engine, transmission, and more. There is no deductible and the warranty can be transferred to a private party. This means if you sell your new Mercedes-Benz to another person while the limited warranty coverage is in effect, the warranty will be transferred to a new buyer.

Bumper-to-Bumper and Powertrain

The bumper to bumper duration is four years or 50,000 miles. Similarly, the powertrain warranty coverage is also for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The warranty covers parts such as the engine, supercharger, transmission, turbocharger, central locking system, radio receiver, climate control system, screen reader, a navigation system, speakers, rear axle, drive system, power seat drive cables, wheel drive, air-conditioning, gaskets, heating system, and radio. The warranty also covers the fuel injection system, antenna motor, steering system, CD player, suspension traction, stability systems, and electrical systems.

Additional Coverage

Mercedes-Benz’s new vehicle limited warranty includes many other perks apart from its bumper-to-bumper and powertrain coverage. These perks include 24-hour roadside assistance, towing service, and trip interruption reimbursement.

If anything goes wrong with your car while you are on a day trip, you can simply download a Mercedes app that will check and pinpoint your location and will inform you when help is on the way. However, you will need web accessibility to use that app.

If the problem with your car is so big that it cannot be solved right away then you will also get trip interruption reimbursement. This means while your car is being repaired, you will get up to $300 daily for three days as compensation for the inconvenience caused.

The limited warranty program also includes anti-perforation that protects your vehicle from rust and corrosion. It also includes tires and wheels coverage that protects the tires against workmanship or material defects. The duration of tires and wheels coverage is 12 months or 12,000 miles.

What’s NOT Included with the Mercedes Warranty

Just like other automaker warranties, the Mercedes-Benz warranty has some exclusions. It does not cover the maintenance of a few parts such as brake pads, discs, tire and rim damage, wiper blades, glass damage, interior surface damage, wheel alignment, and normal maintenance. The warranty also does not cover batteries for remote controls.

If you get your vehicle serviced by a third party that is not authorized by Mercedes, your new vehicle warranty will not cover it. Problems caused by the negligence of the owner and lack of maintenance will also not be covered under the vehicle’s original four-year warranty.

Any damage caused by environmental factors such as hail, storms, floods, and earthquakes will not be covered. Apart from this, the Mercedes warranty also does not cover any damage to the upholstery, paint, and trim. Also, any part replaced by a third party will not be covered.

The Good Things about the Mercedes Warranty

One of the best things about the Mercedes warranty is the inclusion of tires and wheels coverage options. This provides protection against tire defects for 12 months or until your vehicle hits the 12,000-mile mark. If you face any problem with the tires due to material or workmanship defects, you can take your car to your nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership and they will replace the tire.

The inclusion of tire and wheels protection is a generous deal because most of the Mercedes-Benz vehicles’ tires are quite expensive and cost a lot of money to replace. The warranty also includes many other perks such as zero deductibles, transferability, 24/7 roadside assistance and trip interruption reimbursement. These perks give you peace of mind.

Mercedes has many certified collision centers across the United States, so if anything goes wrong with your vehicle, the repair and maintenance process can be quite easy and you can claim your warranty without any hassle.

The Bad Things about the Mercedes Warranty

Even though the Mercedes warranty seems like an attractive deal, it also has a few drawbacks that you should keep in mind. The warranty covers the replacement and repairs costs. However, it does not cover the costs associated with phone calls, loss of revenue, or other indirect losses.

The warranty also does not cover normal wear and tear of the vehicle, regular maintenance, tire rotation, wear of discs, and wheel balancing. It does not cover the defects caused by environmental or natural factors.

Takeaway Value

Overall, the warranty provided by Mercedes is pretty generous in terms of coverage. Its duration is also good and the inclusion of many perks makes it an appealing deal. So, if you are considering buying a Mercedes, you can rest assured that its comprehensive warranty will cover your vehicle in case of any defect.

If you want additional protection, you can also consider buying an extended warranty or a Mercedes-Benz certified pre-owned limited warranty for your CPO vehicle.
