There’s nothing quite like a late Winter sunset in California’s Central Valley. The colors are absolutely breathtaking and make for a really cool backdrop to a chill, spread-out endurance race. At least it was chill for us; our prep game was quite strong, the car was quite reliable, and we had a ton of people on our team to distribute the work.

I shot this back in 2019 while crewing during a 24-hour Lucky Dog Endurance race at Buttonwillow. My friend was in search of people to help fuel and do general crew work and I jumped at the chance. This was my first and last effort on a team, and man it was so much fun. I’ve been patiently waiting for that same friend, or someone else, to be in need of help at another endurance race, but unfortunately, life’s been busy for all parties.

You can get a little more background on Lucky Dog at racelucky.com if you’re interested. Or check out its YouTube channel to get a taste of what the racing’s like!
