The second generation of Toyota and Subaru’s collaborative sports car looks so good in both photos and in person.

Unlike a lot of cars that aren’t supercars. When you see the new GR 86’s muscular hips, sharp front-end, chiseled rear taillights, and sporty side skirts in photos, it really looks just like that in person. Its athletic vibe in various outlets’ news posts translates quite well to real life.
And I think that’s very much a good thing.
It seems like so many cars these days don’t exactly translate to real life, dimensionally speaking. The new M3 is the biggest offender; trust me it looks better in person. The Hyundai Kona N is another offender; I have no idea how big or small that will look in real life.
But the GR 86, its as small and quintessential-sports-car size as you think it is. Truly, a welcome sight in our age of gigantic A-pillars and gross curb weights.
