The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a statement car. It states you have a lot of money, it states you like the best of the best, and it states you have a sense of refined taste. The AMG versions note that you also like power and performance, but in the case of the Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe, it states you appreciate dramatic style above all else.

The S63 coupe is a vehicle to be seen in. At nearly 200 inches long and 83 inches wide, it’s physically hard to miss, and its stretched-out proportions accentuate the curves that flank its body. The exhaust burble hooks your ears, while the dramatic shape tunnels your vision.

The power is a bonus, even if it’s ever-present throughout the entire drive. It easily induces eye-opening joy with the touch of the gas pedal unleashing a claimed 603 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque from its biturbo 4.0-liter V8. That’s good for a zero-to-60-mph jolt in a claimed 3.4 seconds, but there are only so many public places you can unleash that big of a swell.

We say the power comes second because its sports car looks can be slightly deceiving. With its ethos focused on grand touring, it gallups in a straight line, but it’s not as adept when asked to corner. Those who want that power to actually mean something more than a stat they can tell their friends would be opting for the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe, a car that truly puts performance first.
