“The fun starts here.” Indeed. This is one of the funnier car photo shoot locations I’ve ended up in: Whiskey Pete’s Casino on the border of Nevada and California, just a hop and a skip down the road from Las Vegas.

Whiskey Pete’s is known as a last-ditch effort to make one’s money back after losing big in Vegas. It’s not exactly the garden spot of Nevada casinos, either, but to me, it’s actually got a lot of charm.
Within its “man, if these walls could talk” interior is one of the nicest IHOPs I’ve ever been in, and there’s some interesting stuff on display away from the tables and slots. At the time, the car that Bonnie and Clyde were killed in/near, as well as the shirt Clyde was wearing when he was killed were on display. Kind of dark and disturbing? But still significant I suppose.
I imagine people in the parking lot seeing my girlfriend and I exit a fresh, 2020 BMW convertible with less than 2,000 miles on the odometer, on a Sunday evening, had some questions. Surely their imaginations ran wild, too. “Oh no, look at that goofy-looking SoCal investment manager walking with his girlfriend into Whiskey Pete’s. She must really have a heart of gold to put up with whatever he’s done this weekend.”
