It’s totally necessary to photograph more than just race cars at the race track. Are there any goofy situations happening in the pits? Are people gesturing at cars racing by? Are there cute dogs hangin’ out?

In the case of this photo, I captured this Pitbull gazing towards one of the California Central Valley’s beautiful sunsets at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. It almost looks like it’s gazing wistfully, having some deep thoughts about life.
This was during a Lucky Dog Racing League endurance race back in February 2019, which was my first time crewing for a race team. It was also twenty-four-whole-hours long, and thankfully, pretty boring. Boring is good; no mechanical issues, and a team that’s well-trained and running like a well-oiled NA Miata (which was the team’s entry into the race). Plus, you can just hang out and just shoot the breeze with your pals, and enjoy the nice sunset.
