The Lexus LX, the luxury version of the Toyota Land Cruiser, can weigh 6,000 pounds. Some spec sheets say 5,800, but it’s still much heftier than most other SUVs. By comparison, the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Westminster Edition P400 weighs 4,974 pounds. The Mercedes Benz G550? A mere 5,551 pounds!

The LX is so incredibly heavy, but you’d never know it while rolling up and down all shapes and sizes of off-road trails. Its two-speed transfer case, center locking differential, and Active Height Control air suspension make it one potent bruiser. And despite feeling longer than a freighter stuck in the Suez Canal, and wider than an aircraft carrier, it’ll rip down any small, deep-sand path in serene, well-insulated comfort.

No matter how deep and loose the gravel and sand gets, I’m pretty sure, while traveling East to West, the LX utilizes the Earth’s rotation as leverage to dig through God’s green Earth. Even on street-friendly, barely all-terrain tires.
