I’m a sucker for fun and innovative car lighting, and there’s no better place to look for unique designs than a concept car. Because they aren’t restricted by production rules and safety requirements when shaping a concept, designers are allowed to get more creative. End results like the new customizable taillights on the Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept are often the most captivating part of the cars.

About a year after Audi released its vision of the electric A6 e-tron Sportback, Audi has unveiled the wagon’ized version, which the company says is a “completely tangible look at future production models on our new PPE technology platform.”

One feature that will have difficulty making it into the production model will be the customizable taillights, which are made up of a continuous strip of OLED lights that act like a display and can create a 3D look. Audi says the customization options are “almost unlimited,” so the action you see in the GIF below is just one example of what’s possible.

Not that we’d change that design. Is it just us, or do those lights slightly resemble the Car Autance logo?
