After more than a few concepts and literal decades of promises, the iconic Volkswagen bus is here with the official launch name ID.Buzz. There’s a catch, though. This is the two-row European version, and it’s actually not for sale this instant. VW says the U.S. version will be bigger with three rows and will arrive for the 2024 model year.

The VW van is reborn as an electric vehicle, and it uses the same MEB platform as the VW ID.4. According to Automotive News Europe, the ID.Buzz is expected to start below $69,000 before incentives in Germany, but pricing has yet to be announced for the U.S. market.

Admittedly, I am a grouchy, cranky, downer of a man. Volkswagens have historically not been my forte, and the ID.4 probably was the worst of the modern EVs I’ve driven. Yet, the ID.Buzz has me putting my pessimism on pause purely because of its looks.

It’s glorious, mostly. Even me, an avowed nitpick, can’t find too much fault with the design itself. We’d love to get our hands on it when it finally does make it to our shores.
