The Mini Cooper is still ripping around circuits all over the world, and I think that’s pretty darn cool.

When it comes to touring car racing in the USA, my main focus throughout the past few years has been the battle between Honda and Hyundai in IMSA/SRO TCR, as well as SRO’s TC class. Yet, Mini has been there all along, and the little cars have done pretty darn well to boot.

John Cooper Works (JCW) won the SRO TC America Manufacturers’ Title back to back in 2019 and 2020, which is no easy feat. The team also had a pretty strong showing in the series’ TCA and TC classes during the past few years.

This shot features Mark Pombo racing in TC class spec and demonstrates what this potent little race car is all about: lifting the inside wheels frequently while trying to hold as much momentum as possible. That’s actually what Mini has always been about in motorsports, as Motor Trend discussed at length in this recent video.
