Imagine going for a relaxing stroll down the street in any urban area. It could be to take the dog for a walk, or maybe heading out to grab a bite to eat. You hear a strange, distant, high-pitched roar getting louder and louder, and might assume it’s a sport bike cruising around at high RPMs just doing its thing.

But as you look down the street where it’s coming from, there’s only one teeny light, low to the ground, and not very bright. Well, maybe it’s a Honda Grom or something, except the level of noise and tone doesn’t match that of a teeny, single-cylinder bike motor. But wait, it’s actually some small vehicle with bodywork bouncing along the urban tarmac, and you can see a human’s head sticking out of the top, without a helmet. It’s a goddamned F1 car. What the hell is it doing rolling down the street?

This exact scenario happened, as documented by this short video on Facebook. According to the comments, it looks like it took place in Adelaide, Australia. In fact, it looks like this chance encounter has to do with a past installment of the Adelaide Motorsport Festival. What an incredibly badass thing to happen upon, especially if you’re unfamiliar with this festival and happen to simply be out for a walk. The person filming it has the perfect reaction, too, with lots of hearty laughter and surprise.

Vintage F1 cars & Ferrari FXX, F40 LM, 599XX leaving car show

Posted by the Performance Rebuilds Facebook Group, this might be one of the greatest one-and-a-half minute automotive clips ever captured. Not just one, but several vintage F1 cars roll past. I’m not super familiar with classic F1, but to me, they look to be from the 1980s and 1990s.

But that’s not all, a Ferrari FXX, which is a brutal track-focused creation by the Maranello brand from the late-aughts, rolls by, too. There’s also a Ferrari F40 LM and 599XX in the mix. I hope I get to witness similar hardware all in the same place at some point myself, as I am very jealous of everyone who was there.

One thing I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around is where they were going. Are they just doing a couple laps around the block, or are they heading back home? Home could be a nearby automotive storage facility, like Westside Collector Car Storage. I’m not sure of the legality of driving these on the street, either, but if the local authorities gave ’em a pass, God bless ’em for it.

I can watch this clip over and over. Not just for the eye candy, but listening to these beasts’ beautiful music echoing off of all the nearby buildings. This is so friggin’ cool.
